Alexander Mercks, a gifted self-taught musician from Berlin, Germany, took a decisive leap after completing his university education in 2014, forgoing a traditional academic career to follow his musical aspirations.

His innate intuition and unwavering devotion quickly made him a master of the captivating handpan, leading to worldwide recognition. Initially making waves with the duo Yatao, and later as a solo artist with his debut album ‘Osmosis’, Mercks has been constantly pushing the handpan's boundaries. His grounded style creates music that speaks directly to the listener's heart and ears.

In 2024, Mercks expanded his repertoire by stepping into the world of teaching. Alexander Mercks launched his first masterclass on MasterTheHandpan, sharing his profound insights and techniques, thereby inspiring and guiding a new generation of handpan enthusiasts.
